Opening Screen: October Announcements from our Head of School, Jessica Contreras
(Jessica) Hello, I'm Jessica Contreras, and this is my sign name. I'm thrilled to introduce myself as the Head of School for the Michigan School for the Deaf. I'm excited about starting my position this fall.
Today’s announcement will focus on two things. First, what my goals are as Head of School. Second, this month's events on Campus.
I have two goals as head of the school. One set of goals is short-term, the other is long-term. One short-term goal is I really want to elevate the staff and students at MSD, and at the same time, build a relationship with parents and the community. These short term goals will feed into my long term goals. Those goals include clarifying MSD's policies.
All of these relationships and expectations will be used to create a Strategic Plan aimed to begin Fall 2026. . Your involvement in these goals will help me develop a vision for MSD.
October will be a busy month with many different activities that I hope you will participate in with us.
On October 8, there will be an Annual Staff and Parents vs. Students Volleyball Tournament!
We'll have a Cornhole Fundraiser on October 9. I hope you'll come!
On October 20, MSD will host a Community Forum. Your feedback gives me your perspective on MSD's goals for future planning.
