Students in Jeter Center

The middle and high school students attended a special presentation. The guest speaker was Jill Gaus, a woman who is DeafBlind. She shared what it was like growing up with low vision and hearing. She shared the challenges and triumphs she encountered throughout her life. She discussed the different accommodations she had used such as using a bright yellow ball when she played volleyball, an orientation and mobility cane, and a guide dog when navigating through town and stores, and a large computer monitor to read and research at home. Beth Kennedy, the director of

DeafBlind Central

also shared briefly about her job and the program at Central Michigan University. Many students were intrigued and asked great questions!
