Michigan School for the Deaf's varsity volleyball team had their first and only game of the 2019 season on 9/17/19. MSD played played last year's league champs, Merritt Academy. MSD has an extremely young team, with four 6th graders. The girls wanted to play one game to gain experience. They were more excited than nervous and they had smiles on their faces the entire time. They learned the basics of the game and when and how to rotate. They have been working on their serves for a while and all the girls were able to serve during the match. Nevaeh Johnston was even able to get an ACE! Merritt Academy didn't let up on their hard serves and MSD lost 0-3, scores were 1-25, 5-25, 5-25. In the end, the scores didn't matter, the team was happy, they had fun, and they learned a lot. Congratulations on your first experience TARTARS! The girls will be going out to celebrate soon. This team will be a force to reckon with in the future! GO TARTARS!
If anyone has left a voicemail for the Principal, she is unable to retrieve any messages. This problem should be fixed soon.

Unfortunately, Michigan School for the Deaf will be unable to field a football team this season. Stay tuned for weight-lifting and conditioning program information!

Track & Field regionals, 5/17/19: It was an amazing, long, track meet. It was not same as a normal track meet, which is usually 3 hours long. It was finally a warm day. A few of us forgot to put on enough sunscreen. We had a lot of support at the meet as well, with a surprise visit from Charles Thomas. We challenged Jayce to reduce his time for the 400m. He was pumped. Guess what? He got it. We were so happy to see Jake improve his discus distance. It was a huge improvement from 68'7" to 96'10"! All athletes broke some of their personal bests tonight. Quite a few of the athletes said that next year they will get better. You could see the dedication in their eyes. Hard work pays off. Thumbs up! We were able to pass out 5 medals after the meet for placing! Next last track meet will be on Monday May 20 at Birch Run. Whoo hoo what a game! At the end of the second round, Kansas was leading by 2. In the end we fell short 26 to 34.
