Parent Workshop & Meetings

MSD Parents and Guardians,
The Clerc Center will be on campus on the evening of
November 13th and Thursday the 14th throughout the day for two different
Wednesday 6-8 pm:
At 6 pm, Marianne Belsky will present the collaboration
agreement between the Clerc Center and MSD then Stacy Abrams will hold a parent
workshop outlined below:
4 E's of Raising a Deaf/ Hard of Hearing Child.
Families will learn about
different concepts (Expose, Educate, Embrace, and Elevate) and how they
tie into families and their deaf & hard of hearing child’s lives. Families
need to ensure the educational planning their deaf or hard of hearing child
receives is exemplary. Through their parenting journey, families will embrace
their deaf or hard of hearing child’s identity by connecting with other deaf or
hard of hearing adults to learn and understand what their child may grow up to
be and how language is a factor in self-identity and development. During the

MSD Family Workshop
Stacy will also be available at MSD on Thursday,
November 14 from 7:30am-3:30pm for families to sign up to share their ideas, thoughts,
experiences, and how MSD can support families even further. Please sign up for
a 30-minute slot, and interpreters will be available for the meetings.
