For nearly 40 years, Cece has made her mark at Michigan School for the Deaf. After graduating from Michigan State University in 1976, she began subbing and then was hired full time at Michigan School for the Deaf.
Over the years, Cece taught elementary, middle school, high school, transitional student program, and alternative educational program. Cece dedicated her time and energy in numerous endeavors including coaching volleyball, Singing Hands, Drama Club; and sponsoring MSD's leadership clubs, newspaper and yearbook. In 2000, she became Lead Teacher.
When she completed her Maters Degree at Michigan State University in 2001, she became Principal at MSD. For 15 years, Cece has served as principal. Throughout her entire career, Cece always made decisions based on what was best for students. She has been a staunch champion for Deaf and HOH students around the State of Michigan. Thank you for all you have done over the years and we will miss you!
Cecelia ‘Cece’ Winkler has passed away Wednesday, January 17, after a courageous battle with cancer. She gave everything she had in true Tartar fashion. She was resting comfortably with her family at the end. Funeral arrangements will be shared at a later time when there is more information.
