We are pleased to present you with the Annual Education Report (AER), which provides relevant information on the 2015-16 educational progress for the Michigan School for the Deaf (MSD). The AER is created to address the complex reporting information required by federal and state laws. MSD’s public reporting of state assessments is limited as we have a smaller population in each grade. If a class has less than 10 students in each grade (N<10), the statistics are not reported out publicly in order to maintain confidentiality and protect the privacy of our students. It also means that we are not able to have the data disaggregated for us nor can it be reported on specific grade levels. We do use state assessment data and alternate data sources to show growth and determine teacher effectiveness. We are much more cognizant of the need to have additional data sources to identify student growth across time, and the effectiveness of our school program as a whole.
